Like him or hate him, the truth is Himesh's music works with the masses and he till date has a loyal fan base.
His music at times manages extreme reaction from people. Let us see how this album fares.
1. Lonely - The song starts of fine with interesting music arrangement and the rap by Yo Yo Honey Singh, and then disaster strikes!. Meant to be a funny track, where the nasal effect by Himesh seems to be employed intentionally. This track is unlikely to work and the pathetic video makes it worse.
Rating - 2/5
2. Balma - This song is supposed to be a tribute to the legend R D Burman, and as far as the music arrangement goes, it does that to some extent. What kills this song is the cringeworthy lyrics and the totally atrocious video. The singing by Shriram by Shreya is good and somewhat makes me ignore the lyrics. Yet I have no doubt, this song is going to be a hit.
Rating - 3/5
3. Long drive - A standard punjabi track with energetic vocals by Mika. All the songs seem to be competing with each other for the best cringeworthy lyrics on the soundtrack. This track did not work at all for me.
Rating - 2/5
4. Saari saari raat - This song redeems the soundtrack to a great extent. One of the better composition by Himesh in a long time. Now only if he had avoided the urge to sing the number, the end result would have been much better. This one is sure to be liked by Himesh's fan club. The music arrangement works really well here with the nice melody.
Rating - 3.5/5
5. Hookah bar - Why such cringeworthy lyrics one after another on this album! The hook in the beginning of the track seems to be inspired from Turn up the music by Chris Brown. Cringeworthy lyrics + Bad video kill (literally) this song. I will not be surprised though if this song does manage to become popular.
Rating - 2.5/5
6. Khiladi - This one belongs to the Dabangg title track category (which belonged the Omkara title track category). If the video is good and the movie turns out to be a hit, this song will definitely become popular.
Rating - 2.5/5
7. Tu hoor pari - Another standard punjabi track, with decent singing by Javed Ali and Shreya. Music arrangement is alright. An average track.
Rating - 2.5/5
The music arrangement is a definite improvement over the recent albums by HR. If not for the cringeworthy lyrics and bad videos, some tracks may have turned out better.
Some songs will definitely compete for the "Best cringeworthy lyrics" award this year.
A Himesh album sometimes manages to attract polarizing views. This album is likely to fall in that category.
While there is little doubt, this album will be popular, personally I feel Himesh can deliver much better music.
Overall Rating - 2.5/5
My pick : Saari saari raat, Hookah Bar.
